  1. The article “College the Easy Way” is mainly highlighting the problem college students face while in college. The main problem is studying and we do not do that. We as college students rather party for four hours than study and that’s hurting us but we do not see it. Some of us enter college with the wrong state of mind. We have poor study habits, behavior problems, norms, attitude, and values. It would not hurt if we pick up our books and study for at least two hours but we find that hard. We rather fail and make c’s just to say we are passing. As a college student, I feel like we are cheating ourselves but do not see it. It looks like its ok now but when trying to find a job with a G.P.A. of 2.0 it will slap us in our face. Studying is boring but in the long run it would pay off when we doing something we love.

  2. In this article they talk about problems college students face while in college. Some said the main problem was college students studying although I agree with them I also disagree. The article said that some students come into college unprepared because of their previous high school and some teachers even blamed themselves. I do feel that some college students come into college unprepared and by me being a college student I can use myself as an example. I don't feel that my study habits are on the level they should be on and I also don't feel that I scored high enough on the ACT. Many are unable to deal with the stress of living away from home as well as studying, often in noisy dorms where partying is rampant.I feel that some of us need to get our priorities in line and get it together because we don't realize we're not hurting no one but ourselves.

  3. In this particular film it tell about how college students today struggle. Some of the student’s main problems were studying. The main thing that’s in majority of our minds is partying, 85% of college students go out once a week or more. Some college students enter college with the wrong mind state. They feel as there grown I don’t have to go to class, I don’t have to study and I don’t have to do homework. Graduating school with a 2.0 GPA isn’t going to get u nowhere now a days that person that’s more experience will receive it faster than you any day. Many are unable to deal with the stress of living away from home as well as studying. But you know what you have to toughing it out and realize the only way you could succeed is doing what you have to do.

  4. After reading the article "College the Easy Way" it opened my eyes to the many college statistics. It is based off the book "Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses" that is basically talking about how much college students now have stopped studying as hard as they did in the past. It also says that many students come to college unprepared with the skills need to succeed in college. The studies shows that most come to college to party and get a degree, but they don't put in the effort of studying. Overall, I learned that it's better to put in the time of studying and earn your degree the right way!

  5. In the article "College the Easy way", the writer pointed out that there is increase in the cost of college. But, the students are not studing to improve their skills in critical thinking, complex reasoning and writing. This is a fact to me as a student.I can see that some students are not prepared to spend quality time with their books, instead, they preferred indulging in youthful exuburance. After managing to gratuate, they will be unable to communicate effectively or solve simple intellectual tasks. This is not only a disgrace to the students alone, but also to the larger society. The Colleges and universities should please arise to their responsibilities by ensuring that students undergo rigorous academic work before graduation. Students should stop cheating themselves and be committed to their academic work, because it plays a crucial role in the lifetime.

College the Easy Way journal article mentioned and pointed out the increase in cost for college. Most students enter college unprepared and for all the wrong reasons. The studied showed that most people go to college to party and obtain a degree and have little to no interest in studying. Students who are graduating with a g.p.a of 2.0 now days won’t get far at all in the future. Although studying is boring, it will pay off in the long run.

  7. Sylvester Nzekwe - Honestly this is the truth. I myself have thought to myself that as a junior, I still dont know as much as I feel like I should. Also, I realized through meeting college graduates that it is possible to graduate college learning no more than what you already knew coming into college. I have a friend who graduated in a degree in business and is now bagging groceries at a local grocery store. Also yes people do come to school mostly to party and socialized. we have to learn to have time management. theres a time to partyand a time to study. We just have to realize this as students.

  8. I have to agree when I read this, for the most part. Students these days just want to get out of school with a D or better - that is unacceptable. It's not only parties that interrupts students learning, but also procrastination that takes a toll on them as well. It isn't an easy process to balance all classes, but one must do what is necessary to succeed in school and life.

  9. The article named "College the easy way" written by Bob Herbert is about how college students don't learn at school. The article starts with the question: "What are America's kids actually learning in college?". Actually, by a lot of searching, they learn nothing. According to two professors R.Arum and J.Roksa children come to college unprepared with attitudes and behaviors that are odds. It is said that they party more than they hold there books and I think that exactly what is going on at college. All the easiest majors become more and more popular and the children take less credits every semester just to have time party. What I have noticed is that for those kids the weekend start on Wednesday which is a little bit to much because they always complain that I study to much. they even say that "I study more than I shower". Certainly study is boring but it will help you built your future and become a good and reliable person on what you learned.

  10. This article is very interesting and I find it to be very accurate. Many students in today's society just want to party, go to class only on test day, and want an 'A' in the class. To some degree the professor's get the blame for not pushing the students to their limits. But, if the students are coming to college unprepared then therefore the professor's may not want to take the time to reviewing. Although it is still the responsibility of the student to be studious and study. There is no reason to come to college to do nothing but party, the reason to come to college is to get an education from a higher learning facility.

  11. I do not disagree with "College the Easy Way," but I do feel that this article does not apply to every college/university student. There are many students that come from high school very unprepared. The blame of that can go either way, the teachers' fault or the students' fault. I do agree that at some universities students dont have to do much to get passing grades. Some teachers pass students for their efforts and some pass them for the work they actually did. I can't say that all students come to college and study less than they did when they were in high school, because some of them may not have studied when they were in high school.

  12. I think the article was a good article that touched issues concerning college students. I believe that many college students can be at fault for how they study and learn in college but it is not all their fault. The system in which they are a part of has to make sure there giving their students the best in teaching quality and encouragement to do well. Sometimes, students and teachers both like to get by and make things easier by I do not think that it is something that many of them end up doing. Everything tends to depend on who the specific teacher is.

I think this article does have a point. Compared to the 1960s, today's college student are coasting through school. They study much less but there's not a significant drop in average GPAs. I also believe that it is just as much of the school's fault as the students. If the students' grades were to fall, Im sure study hours would increase. Overall, as long as students can cruise through classes, they will continue to do so.

The article stated how college is increasing financially. Also how people are skating through college with high gpa's without puttting forward an actual effort. Author feels the economy will suffer for the students not being able to think critical. I agree somewhat but i dont beleive all teacher's give you grades. He made valid points but not all of them are correct in my opinion. He was opinionated but i nneed factual information.

  15. The article “College the Easy Way” is about how college is basically easier than it was years ago. The article is saying how students are not as committed to their work as students were years ago. The author feels that students priorties are not where they should be. The author feels that students are missing out on greater knowledge because they are not getting taught the right way. He feels they are getting fed with a silver spoon when it comes down to expanding there knowledge.

The article "College the Easy Way" is a good persuasive argument because it speaks truth. In the beginning it kicks off explaining the financial matters that we as country are experiencing. One of those matters would happen to be the increase of cost for education; if choosing to continue. Then goes directly into explaining how the statistics have shown a decrease percentage of college student’s dedication. A lot of students may settle for less effort to give in college because not everyone is college material, or they start off with a major then other things may occur in life and settle for that option. As a college student, athlete, it can get complicated with the academics. Yes, we need to stop settling for less and aim goals for 3.5 gpa and above, but you may not know someone background, their life struggles. As long as you finish with some sort of degree and have faith you can make it out here in the world.

  17. This article is pretty accurate in relation to what I see and experience around campus. If there is an academic service that is not mandatory, the majority of the student body will choose not to go. Any extra work is out of the question for this generation of students.

  18. I had to agree with this article because I saw nothing but truth behind everything which was said. Most students just wanna get by with a C and pass through college with ease. No one wants to over acheive for anything if they can get it easily. Since the majority of us are kids just getting out of high school we look for the easy routes right now in life and this is one of them that we have start to be taken advantage of.

  19. I agreed with some of the information in the article because some students just don't care if they pass or fail a courses. I do believe though that some teachers seem to show favoritism towards some students and that is not fair to the other students. People set low expectations for themselves and they need to push themselves more and more.
